| How Good of a Swimmer Does My Child Have to be to Join the Gators? If your child can swim one length of the pool without stopping, he or she can join the Gridley Gators. It doesn't take long for children to learn the competitive strokes: butterfly, backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle. Our members range in age from 5- to 18-years-old and we are backed by a very supportive parent group. The Gridley Gators mission is to encourage, enhance and provide a positive swimming experience for all of our members. It provides the coaching, facilities, encouragement, and opportunity for youth athletes to achieve, through participation in team activities, their maximum individual potential. It also offers, for those who are less competitive, a highly rewarding and fun group experience in the sport of swimming.
